Awesome campground. Vault toilets available. Water spigots are seasonal. Campground consists of a large single loop with at least 20 campsites. Reservations are not accepted. First come, first serve.
They have a couple sites that are meant for bigger groups that offer an amazing view of the mountains but they do require the full double payment.
One downer is that the light pollution from LA is visible from this campground, especially if you're on the side that faces LA. As a matter of fact, you can see the LA lights from the campgrounds at a certain point of the campsite.
Beautiful views in certain campsites. Very accessible as well as peaceful.
I came at a time when the campgrounds were first come first serve. We found an awesome spot and camped for a good 2 nights. There weren't too many local trails available to us at the time and the nearby visitors center was closed but that didn't take away too much from our fun.
Love this campground, I have been twice already and both times camped on the western side of Chilao Upper Loop. The view to the west from there is incredible and easily the most scenic spots in the campground. That said these spots fill up quick, especially on the weekends so get there in the afternoon if you can. There are a few very large campsites here.
Beautiful wild camp, surrounded by trees, black and blue birds, not crowded! You can get away and feel the nature. They have group camp, if you are few couples or big family, you can rent the whole area for your selves. You need to reserve the area though in advance. Otherwise there is a camp ground which is for everybody! Safe place, a lot of wood! Many Open fire pits. Please keep it clean and enjoy your camping.
